Watching cartoons

  You have been watching tv for like a good chunk of your life, remembering the good old tv shows but making space for the new ones. Reminiscing about the back in the tv shows and they made you laugh until you were literally rolling on the floor, helps you realize how your taste in tv shows has changed throughout the years or maybe even evolved. The good back  in the day shows consisted of mostly a variety of cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Dexter's Laboratory, The Power Puff Girls and much more that circled around that time period. Something incredible about the old cartoons were that they could actually get a genuine laugh out of you. The new cartoons try to get a laugh out of you acting dumb or stating the obvious to the viewers.

Watching the news

Watching the news isn't all that boring as you think it is. Well for one thing, it is actually a good thing to keep up to date with current events. By doing so, you will know what is going on around you, your community and the country you live in. Being updated and informed is really important, especially if the news offers information valuable to you and or people you know. For example bills that are in the process of being established, that may affect your life and or others' lives. Also the news can inform you about famous seasonal or national events that take place around certain times. Lastly, it is a good idea to tune into your news forecasters because like that you'll know how the weeks weather may play out.

Shopping

Dashing down the aisles, getting the best deals, swiping your credit(debit) card and enjoying your time us what shopping is all about. There are different types of shopping nowadays. There is the physical shopping, when you physically go into the store, online shopping when you shop online and put your items in your mini shopping cart, and there is window shopping. Window shopping is when you look around but don't buy anything because either you are just looking or once you see the price, you leave right away. When you go shopping, you buy what you want and you could enjoy time by yourself. When you get great deals on items you want is the best because you spend less money.

Walking along the beach

In my opinion, walking along the beach helps me clear my mind and enjoy the scenery. The feel of the breeze on my skin makes me feel better. You feel like you're free and nothing can cage you. You feel like you are alone and you have the whole world in  your grasp. The feeling of total freedom is within your reach.

Take a ride

 What's so cool and relaxing, taking a ride in your car. Taking a ride in your car and letting the wind go through your hair, helps you relax and get your off of things troubling you. You get transported to your own little wonderland. As you drive around, you feel like you could be alone. If you feel like you're suffocated, then you won't feel as suffocated and pressured anymore.

Instruments

Music is what basically completes my day, my week, and my life. But funny enough I don’t know how to play a single instrument… the recorder does not count for me since I actually use to know how to play it but forgot how to. So where I’m going with this is that learning how to play an instrument could be the key to solving boring moments with nothing to do at a given times. Instruments are really amazing things that one can learn how to use. Plus there is such a vast variety to choose from. There are string instruments, brass instruments, woodwind instruments, percussion instruments, and each section has many instruments in them. Instruments all range from size to sound, to color, and the material it is made out of. They are even electrical or acoustic. Trust me it is pretty mind blowing to learn how to play an electric violin or the piano, or even the banjo. You get a sense of accomplishment and or completeness added to your life. And the best part is that once you start to learn and practice an instrument you get sucked into your own little world that only you appear with your instrument, letting your creativity loose, and the beautiful sounds guide you.

Sports On TV

I’m not much a TV type of person. You would usually find me flipping through channels only to find out what the weather will be like this week or the locals news. But that is all a thing of the past… Well at least for now it is. It is soccer season, better yet football season and on top of that the eliminatory matches that decide who is going to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2014 are still going on. It’s pretty intense if you’re a fan of the famous cup game. But none the less this can be a really good thing to do if you’re bored or have the time to. Watch any sport matches that you are in too on your TV. Whether it be soccer, baseball, American football, even golf, enjoy it because they are actually quite fun to watch.

Reading

Reading is a pretty cool think to do, but sadly there are times where we tend to do less and less of it each day. It makes sense since we are living during a technological point in time... that needs a book? Most of the day goes by either watching television or surfing the web and I’m guilty of doing so as well. But that is no reason to give up on picking up reading books during leisure time. Reading can be quite beneficial; you can expand your knowledge and also your culture by picking up history books. With that you understand the past events that occurred or why certain cultures have certain traditions and so on.  Also, reading books or stories can be like an escape, an escape from the world you live in, at least for some time. You can let your creativity flow while you imagine and feel the scenes occurring in the story. And what I find to be more beneficial about reading is being able to expand your vocabulary and the ways to express your ideas to the others in a simple and correct form just by reading different works of writing...  All these reasons help express how reading isn’t as bad as some think it is.

Rock 'N' Roll

It’s a rainy day and you can’t go outside. You are stuck at home for who knows how long. The sense of boredom is just starting to set in… I listen to music to avoid the seasonal sense of boredom. Honestly the sound of the pitter patter made by rain drops hitting my living room windows and the silence heard abundantly just gets to me. Music is just the best remedy. It can brighten your mood, spark some creativity, or just souse your inner thoughts. I tend to listen to get rid of the boredom while lazing around at home, cleaning, or searching the web, hey it works. Other than just listening to music you can jump on YouTube real quick and search for music videos to watch... It also serves as a source for inspiration for me, I like inspirational kinds of music and listen to songs that often times drive me to want to do better at something or make me want to try harder at things, like being a better person and what not.

Listen to music. If you’re a music lover, it can lift up your spirits like nothing else can. Just make sure you don’t play sad songs, for now.  Unless you’re into that.

New Languagae.. Why Not

Learn a new language, it can actually be fun. All you have to do is learn a few words every day and you’re good. Learning a new language might not be easy at times, but remember that you can always get something out of it. Many people learn languages for many different reasons like I learned French because I did not want to take another Spanish class in middle school plus I got to experience something new and out of my culture. It is really amazing being able to discover the wonders other cultures have to offer you like music, literature, art and much more. Plus you gain knowledge, knowledge is important, and knowing a new language can open doors for new relationships, jobs, and or media you would like to read or watch about like I watch Korean dramas from time to time and may I say their plots are far more interesting than the Spanish novellas they give now a days (they always have the same plot)…

None the less start learning when you have free time or you’re bored, once you have your numbers and alphabet down packed you’ll be hooked.

Jusqu'à la prochaine fois.

Checkmate

Chess. What is chess? Chess is “a board game of strategic skill for two players, played on a checkered board. Each player begins the game with sixteen pieces that are moved and used to capture opposing pieces according to precise rules. The object is to put the opponent's king under a direct attack from which escape is impossible ( checkmate)”, definition from online source.

Chess can be either a you love it or you hate it kind of thing. I personally enjoy playing chess because I started playing at a very young age with my family. And that lead me to join the chess club in grade school… good times. But none the less whether you grew up with it or without give it a shot it can actually be enjoyable and mind boggling and you can actually always find ways to better yourself at it. Having friendly competitions with friends are always a treat, so give it a shot. Just because it’s a board game don’t consider it boring.

(It’s so exhilarating getting your pawns in the enemy’s territory.)

Newspaper

There is a large portion of the world population who reads the newspaper. People read the newspaper for various reasons like at school we need to do, from time to time, current event research assignments on subjects we find interesting that have occurred. Some just like to read for information and interpretations on public affairs, which can be either quite interesting or not as much. It also provides a framework for daily living, for those who are interested by showing you lists of events and advertisements published on a daily basis. But there is nothing better than just getting a sense of relaxation or entertainment of the daily newspaper.

Reading a newspaper is a good way to pass the time while also increasing your awareness on what is occurring around your surroundings. Oh and you could always flip to your favorite section, sports, comic, and crossword puzzle.

Got...Music?

Music is everywhere, Music is universal, Music has no boundaries.
With that said... ahem we all have our preferred taste in music, whether it be country, rap, pop, etc. People tend to stick to the music type they grew up around with, or the type of music that is in at the time (like when all of a sudden DubStep got really popular and everyone was jamming out to it). No matter what type of music you fancy more I would suggest using your free time to search up different genres of music that you are not well acquainted with. You will be surprised with the nice, catchy, fresh songs you can find and add to your play list. Try to be open minded with music and just give it a try. Oh and don't forget music is made in different languages.

CREATIVITY TO THE MAX

     It's funny how having art class in grade school comes in handy as you get older. All those times the teacher would say "don't color outside the lines" or "hold your drawing utensil like this" sure has its perks. By now we should have some decent skills in drawing since drawing is done quite frequently when our attention span has run low. And we just can't concentrate when we didn't sleep enough last night, a couple lights are off in the classroom, and you just don't get that random math lesson the teacher is going over.
     So back to drawing... What I really love about drawing is that you are in control of the image you want to produce, or the colors you want to use. You can let your creativity just pour out of you and construct your own master piece. Plus there are a lot of different things to draw or materials you can use.
     Over the summer I picked up Graffiti art and decided to actually learn how to make some nice graffiti word art. I would zone out for hours just moving an array of sharpie markers across my sketchpad. Best thing to do when your bored without a doubt, and you don't even have to be good at it!

Bored.....TAG YOU'RE IT!!!

     This may be kind of dorky but who cares. In our childhood we have all gone through various games like peek-a-boo, hide & seek, and tag. But today I’ll focus on tag or more specifically the well-known variation of it, FREEZE TAG. I can remember playing freeze tag since I was around 5 years old and I still play it till this day. Hey what can I say, it's a Classic! And it's a lot of fun, especially when you get a ton of people together to join in. It does not matter whether you are young or old you can always partake in this exhilarating game. Soooo many good times come to mind just by thinking about Freeze Tag and it puts a smile on my face.

     Sadly as we get older we start to view these games as childish and unpleasing (especially in our teenage years) since we get surrounded by new things like the latest technology ranging from smartphones to iPods to laptops and basically anything electronic (even microwaves with a button for POPCORN). Or we tend to feel that we should do more things that "older kids do" like go shopping, watch TV, and or play video games, instead.

     But let me tell you something, age is but a number and Freeze Tag is but a game. Don't ever be afraid to let your inner child loose once in a while, and enjoy life to the fullest. Trust me, an exciting game like this will never get old and out of your system.

Just Have Fun.

{Freeze Tag is a playground game that involves one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to “freeze" them by getting tagged. When frozen you must wait until another player that is unfrozen to “unfreeze” you by tagging you.}

Get Sudoku In Your System

     Numbers games like Sudoku, as well as word games, can be addicting but, unlike most addictions, they are actually good for your brain. Playing them helps to stimulate your mind; it improves your memory and may aid in delaying the effects of aging (that’s a plus).

     Playing Sudoku helps me feel smarter, and I have become addicted to the game (I play it much to often). It is really relaxing and it gives me a sense of accomplishment when I finally figure out where each number corresponds. On top of that Sudoku is challenging without being frustrating! Many people do not play Sudoku because they think it is time-consuming.... well it can be at times, but by playing it often, you will become better and faster and it will help you advance to a harder levels more quickly and with less of a hassle.

     Exercising your mind isn’t a bad thing to do. It will actually make you become a happier and smarter person.

What do you think?

NERF WAR

          What's a Nerf war? It's a competitive sport or activity involving Nerf Blasters or other foam-firing toy weapons. Why does it matter? Well it sure beats being bored with nothing to do. Besides who doesn’t like shooting a bunch of foam darts at friends while trying your ultra-very best to dodge incoming shots aimed at you. Just think about it you could practically have your own little or massive war in your very own backyard or house or practically anywhere actually. Most people prefer large open areas like fields or parks, more area to move around in. Playing around with Nerf guns is a lot of fun, it sure brings trills to everyone playing and you get an adrenaline rush from it.
So try it! And see if you can be the Nerf war victor.

WARNING: Avoid shooting others in the eyes. Some Nerf ammunition may hurt (just a bit).

FREE TIME

Instead of staring out your window, watching a minimum amount of traffic pass by, why not ignite your creativity by reading or writing poetry. There are various reasons why people write poetry, maybe they enjoy to write and want to create something new or fresh. Some enjoy showing their skill of writing to others or they want to better themselves as writers. Poetry also helps them express themselves, it encourages interpersonal relationships and enriches human knowledge! Poetry is your own interpretation of things so you could never go wrong with it. You can have fun while writing poetry because you get to mess around with the word play. Writing poetry is about playing with the language. You can even make words up, if you want to. And there is always that ONE word you struggle looking  for a long time.... but it is all worth wild when you find it!— is there a better feeling in the world?

Favorite Poem:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SONATINA
by: Rubén Darío (1867-1916)
    HE princess mourns -- Why is the Princess sighing?
    Why from her lips are song and laughter dying?
    Why does she droop upon her chair of gold?
    Hushed is the music of her royal bower;
    Beside her in a vase; a single flower
    Swoons and forgets its petals to unfold.
    The fool in scarlet pirouettes and flatters,
    Within the hall the silly dueña chatters;
    Without, the peacock's regal plumage gleams.
    The Princess heeds them not; her thoughts are veering
    Out through the gates of Dawn, past sight and hearing,
    Where she pursues the phantoms of her dreams.
    Is it a dream of China that allures her,
    Or far Galconda's ruler who conjures her
    But to unveil the laughter of her eyes?--
    He of the island realms of fragrant roses,
    Whose treasure flashing diamond hoards discloses,
    And pearls of Ormuz, rich beyond surmise?
    Alas! The Princess longs to be a swallow,
    To be a butterfly, to soar, to follow
    The ray of light that climbs into the sun;
    To greet the lilies, lost in Springtime wonder,
    To ride upon the wind, to hear the thunder
    Of ocean waves where monstrous billows run.
    Her silver distaff fallen in disfavor,
    Her magic globe shorn of its magic savor,
    The swans that drift like snow across the lake,
    The lotus in the garden pool -- are mourning;
    The dahlias and the jasmin flowers adorning
    The palace gardens, sorrow for her sake.
    Poor little captive of the blue-eyed glances!
    A hundred negroes with a hundred lances,
    A hound, a sleepless dragon, guard her gates.
    There in the marble of her palace prison
    The little Princess of the roving vision,
    Caught in her gold and gauzes, dreams and waits.
    "Oh" (sighs the Princess), "Oh, to leave behind me
    My marble cage, the golden chains that bind me,
    The empty chrysalis the moth forsakes!
    To fly to where a fairy Prince is dwelling--
    O radiant vision past all mortal telling,
    Brighter than April, or the day that breaks!"
    "Hush, little Princess," whispers the good fairy,
    "With sword and goshawk; on his charger airy,
    The Prince draws near -- the lover without blame.
    Upon his wingéd steed the Prince is fleeting,
    The conqueror of Death, to bring you greeting,
    And with his kiss to touch your lips to flame!"
BORED??? DON'T WORRY!
There is always something to do. You could always have a karaoke contest with freinds and family. Whether you are at a karaoke place taking turns trying to sing along as well as you can or just chilling at home with your siblings and cousins singing along to YouTube song videos with lyrics and trying to out sing the others. This is a blast! Try It! There is nothing like jamming out to the songs you like, destressing yourself, and having some good ol' fun. Sing your heart out like Zendee.
There is nothing like taking a swim in a pool on the weekend! (Unless you are not into Pools..) . It is super refreshing, relaxing, and rejuvinating. You get splash around like there is no care in the world… Avoide wetting adults though, just to be on the safe side…. I don’t know how many of you have a pool at home or a community pool but if you do take advantage since swimming is a good form of cardio excersize.
To enjoy the time at the pool even more why not take or invite some friends, family, or someone you would have fun with. Play some water games, I recommend Marco/ Polo….
Usually everyone likes to be in the water, even though there are some rare cases…. but none the less whenever you might feel bored or have nothing planned head over to your nearest pool. Hit your uncle with a pool up to let him know you going over!
Finally the weekend came. Everyone can sit back and relax, that is what I did on Friday. School really gets to you especially when there is no A/C in the whole building and there are exams that have to be taken ! ….. Okay once you are done relaxing you might start to think about what your weekend has in store for you. Sadly there are times when we do absolutely nothing over the weekend. No hanging out, no fun, no nothing. That is why we should live life to the fullest and enjoy it.
For example you could get in touch with a relative you have not heard from in a while and see how they are doing. You never know if they have a party or get together coming up and you get invited to go. Now you’ll have something to do. It is a good way to reconnect with family, have some laughs, and enjoy the time spent together.
In life, every minute counts.
What Is Going On
September 3, 2013
It is 7:47 AM at the time and it is time to blog!
What exactly am I going to blog about… well let me break it down for you. We all know that since we are back at school we have a multitude of things to do, on top of school and its extras. Some of us have to work, do chores, baby sit, get ready for college, sports, or just work hard at maintaining your grades! But lucky us we all occasionally have that limited moment of “Free Time/Leisure Time” that we decide on how we spend it! Even though that’s the best part about free time….  honestly I don’t always do something entertaining or productive with my time. I end up either taking naps, playing video games, and I don’t know what else… I’m just tired by the end of the day.
So the point of this blog is to blog about activities one can do during our leisure times that can be productive, entertaining, and or may even spark some creativity! Also you may gain an appreciation of everything that circles around you. You’ll never be bored again!
You can find entertainment anywhere.
